Diane DiBenedetto - About Me

Welcome to Fifth Grade!

My name is Mrs. DiBenedetto and this will be my 24th year of teaching. I have been teaching at Saint James School for seventeen years. Of those seventeen years, I taught middle school (grades 6-8) for three years and 5th grade for the last fourteen years! Prior to teaching at Saint James, I taught middle school and pre-school for five years at Assumption School in Ansonia, Connecticut. I also briefly taught middle school math while living in Florida.

I love teaching, and I especially love teaching in a Catholic School! While growing up, I attended Assumption School in Ansonia (K-8) and then went on to attend and graduate from Saint Joseph's High School in Trumbull, Connecticut. Having experienced a fabulous catholic education, I knew that would be my calling - a Catholic School Teacher! I love being able to teach such great children and include GOD in all that we do in our classroom!
After graduating from high school, I continued my education at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, Connecticut. I studied hard and graduated with a double Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and Psychology. I also have my Teacher Certification in Connecticut and Florida.
In addition to being a teacher, I am also a wife and mother. I have been married for nineteen years to my husband, John, and I have three sons!  All three of our boys have attended Saint James School since preschool. Currently, Andrew is a freshman at UCONN, Matthew is a sophomore at East Catholic High School, and Alexander is in fifth grade this year!  In addition to our boys, we have a dog, Jaxson!  He is a Goldendoodle and we all love him so much - maybe he'll come to school one day to meet you!
When I'm not teaching, I enjoy being outside with my boys (including the dog)! We are busy gardening, finding interesting creatures in the yard, bouncing on the trampoline, riding the ATV, playing on the swings, enjoying the lake, and so on! We even do these things during the winter months! When we aren't outside, we'll play games, read, or watch movies. Sometimes we even go to help out at our family bakery in town - most of the time we are just the taste testers though!

I am so excited to be your teacher this school year! I look forward to creating many memories with you as we journey together throughout the year. There are so many fun and exciting things that we do in the fifth grade to make it one of your best years!
